Inside This Issue:
Welcome to this week’s Employee Experience Magazine newsletter.
AI is speeding up, so who gets the chance to learn and be trusted?
Today’s newsletter starts inside Meta, where staff were ranked by how much they used AI. Then we hear from Pluxee UK CEO Jonathan Attia who says the first rung of the career ladder was disappearing long before AI arrived.
But then we have something a little different for those of us designing work and considering the next generation. A brave and highly articulate 17 year old has given her own views on trust at work.
Then as usual we spotlight a free event of the week, and a round-up of upcoming industry events and conferences on both sides of the atlantic.
Featured Insights:
A look behind the scenes of Meta’s journey to full AI adoption.
Meta has moved from encouraging AI adoption to expecting it in about a year. Its staff are testing Hatch, an autonomous agent that fills in forms, controls a browser and makes bookings. Then an internal leaderboard ranked the top 250 token users, and it came down two days after the news broke. Esther Smith, Editor of Employee Experience Magazine, looks at three things HR can learn from watching Meta go first.
If AI did not close the first rung of the career ladder, what did?
Jonathan Attia, CEO of Pluxee UK, says the routes into work started to disappear long before generative AI arrived. He looks at how hiring, hybrid working and less informal mentoring changed the way early-career people learn, and what employers can do about it now.
How is a young worker supposed to gain experience if nobody will trust them without it?
We spend a lot of time talking about the next generation to enter the workplace, so we invited one to write for us directly. Reese Marrow, a thoughtful and articulate 17-year-old high school senior in New York, has had work experience so far on a deli counter and as a gymnastics coach. She turned what she noticed into an independent study, and she interviewed organisational leaders to test it. Pretty impressive stuff ‘eh. She has a request for employers of her generation and it’s worth a read.
